All washed down with a glass of wine and a mince pie or two! 6 January: The Bidston Lighthouse Dr Stephen Pickles presents an illustrated talk about the history of Bidston Lighthouse and the central role it played in revolutionising lighthouse optics and line-of-sight telecommunications. Please note: this meeting has been cancelled due to Covid concerns. 3 February: Chile: From tropics to icebergs Nigel Griffiths describes a North to South journey through this wonderfully improbable country. Stretching thinly more than 2,700 miles from the tropics nearly to Antarctica, and from ocean to snow-capped Andean peaks, Chile has every type of climate and scenery. His talk is illustrated with slides. 3 March: “Stained Glass” Kate Bayes introduces us to the history of stained glass and her work as an artist. She will talk about the properties of working with glass, discuss issues of design, and take us through the process of creating a stained glass panel/window. 7 April: Short AGM followed by “The Parkgate Mosquito ….”’ Apollo, Luna, Neptune, Zephyrus …. and the American President!
