In a locked committee room, the Chairman, the Treasurer and the Organiser of the Shelf Union Club have gathered to watch Mr Pessel (a non- committee guest witness) pick the winning ticket for their Christmas raffle.
This amateur production is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH LTD a Concord Theatricals Company.
2 January: “Wolves, Witches and Wagers”
Veterinary surgeon David Murdoch traces the development of dogs, where they came from, how they became domesticated and how we have treated (& mistreated them). Cats get a mention too!
6 February: “Gardening & Astronomy”
Professor of Astrophysics Mike Bode will tell how a quirk of fate led a Wirral-based team of astronomers, a horticulturalist, designer and landscape construction experts to develop two RHS Gold medal winning gardens based on events and mysteries in astronomy. The general astronomical background will be given, but please don’t expect too many in-depth answers about the plants!
5 March: The Mango Tree
William & Gail Fulton tell us the story of how they started this Orphan Support Programme in Tanzania in 2002, how it has developed and the work it continues to do in 2019.
2 April: Annual General Meeting followed by “Stained Glass”
Kate Bayes introduces us to the history of stained glass and her work as an artist. She will talk about the properties of working in glass, discuss issues of design and take us through the process of creating a stained glass panel/window.
